PhET: Research and Development:
How PhET simulations are designed, and the research process of refining the simulations to best promote learning.



Phet проводить дослідження і на дизайн та використання інтерактивних симуляцій, щоб краще зрозуміти:
  1. Які характеристики роблять ці інструменти ефективними для нвчання і чому
  2. Як учні навчаються і взаємодіють з цими інструментами, щоб вчитися, і що впливає на цей процес
  3. Коли, як і чому ці інструменти є ефективними для різних навчальних середовищ
Принципи проектування PhET моделювання засновані на дослідженнях про те, як учні навчаються (Bransford і ін., 2000), а також з наших інтерв'ю щодо моделювань (див Процес створення PhET). Від чотирьох до шести усних інтерв'ю з окремими учнями були проведені з кожним моделюванням. Ці інтерв'ю служать корисним джерелом даних для вивчення дизайну інтерфейсу і навчання учнів. "Чи можуть Phet симуляції замінити досліди з реальним лабораторним устаткуванням?"
Наші дослідження показали, що Phet-сіми є більш ефективними для концептуального розуміння понять, явищ і процесів, проте, є багато цілей практичних занять, для яких моделювання не підходять. Так, наприклад, для формування конкретних навичок, пов'язаних з функціонуванням устаткування. В залежності від мети вашої роботи, може бути найбільш ефективним використовувати тільки симуляції або комбінації симів і реального обладнання.

"Чи учні навчаються, якщо я просто скажу їм, щоб вони дома гралися з симуляціями?"
Більшість учнів не мають необхідних навичок і мотивації, щоб навчатися самостійно, граючи з науковими симуляціями (їм весело, але це не є цікавим навчанням), якщо немає прямого стимулювання, такого, як створює учитель в класі. Це одна з причин, чому ми проводимо спеціальні дослідження того, як найкраще інтегрувати симуляції в домашню роботу.

"Як найкраще використовувати Phet симуляції в викладанні навчального курсу?"
Ми знайшли для Phet-симів, що вони можуть бути дуже ефективними під час демонстраційної лекції, в класній дослідницькій роботі, при виконанні лабораторних робіт і для домашніх завдань. Вони розроблені з мінімальним використанням текстів, так що можуть бути легко інтегровані в кожен аспект курсу.

Наші безпосередні інтереси:

Використання аналогій для розуміння: Учні використовують аналогії в симуляціях, щоб зрозуміти незнайомі явища. Уявлення відіграють ключову роль у використанні учнями аналогій.

Моделювання як інструмент для зміни норм викладання: Симуляції охоплюють соціально-культурні норми науки, але також можуть бути використані для зміни традиційних норм викладання, за якими учні зазвичай навчаються в класі при традиційному навчанні.

Особливості симуляцій, які сприяють навчанню і залучають до дослідження: Наші принципи проектування полягають в тому, щоб визначити основні характеристики моделей, які роблять їх продуктивними інструментами для залучення учнів. Тепер ми хочемо вивчити в деталях, як кожна функція впливає на розуміння матеріалу учнями.

Інтеграція моделювання в домашнє завдання: Симуляції мають унікальні особливості, які не доступні більшості засобів навчання (інтерактивні елементи, анімацію, динамічний зворотний зв'язок, вони дозволяють продуктивно досліджувати)

Ефективність хімічних моделей: Ми тільки почали дослідження того, де і як хімія моделювання може бути ефективним засобом навчання.
