This lesson serves as an introduction to finding unit rates. It may be helpful if students have covered Common Core Standard 6.RP.A.1 - (Understand the concept of a ratio and use ratio language to describe a ratio relationship between two quantities) prior to this lesson. Students will informally experiment with finding unit rates using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Students will be able to confirm their answers using the PhET simulation. Materials are included in both .docx and .pdf files. If available, teachers may find the most success uploading the .docx files to Google Drive, converting the files to Google Docs, and sharing with classes via a Google Classroom type platform to allow students access to electronic worksheets. |
