Title | Using the Molecular Shapes PhET Simulation: Concept Development for Understanding Molecular Geometry and Shape |
Description | This activity was done in week 6 of the first term general chemistry course at UC-Riverside. The activity was done at the beginning of the unit on VSEPR and molecular geometry/shape, which was initiated immediately after the unit on covalent bonding and Lewis structures. This activity was done as the initial exploration into the concept of molecular geometry/shape, with the goal of helping students understand how VSEPR can be used to predict the geometry and shapes of molecules, and estimate the real bond angles for different types of molecular shapes. |
